Man Arrested for Drunken Driving

The following information was provided by the Chelsea Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Chelsea police arrested a 30-year-old Chelsea resident July 25 at 3:45 a.m. after police said he was driving with a flat tire while under the influence of alcohol.

According to the report, the man was driving with a flat tire along Main Street. He stopped and pulled into a parking lot where he parked the car.

The report states that the officer watched the vehicle and waited for the man to exit the car. After several minutes, the driver was still in the car so the officer approached the car.

The officer spoke with the driver and smelled alcohol, the report states. The driver was given several field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test, the report said. The man was then placed under arrest for driving under the influences of intoxicants.

Blood was drawn when the man was taken to the station, and he was transported to Washtenaw County Jail. The incident remains under investigation while police wait for the blood results.
