Chelsea Girls Basketball Falls to Goodrich in Regional Final

The Bulldogs lost 49-21.

The Chelsea High School varsity girls basketball season ended Thursday with the team's loss in the regional final. Goodrich won the game with a score of 49-21. Chelsea ends the season with the district title, which the team claimed by beating Jackson Lumen Christi on March 1. Goodrich now goes on to play Ladywood in the Class B quarterfinals. Good season, Bulldogs!

Chelsea Hockey Falls to Riverview in Quarterfinals

The Bulldogs lost 5-3.

The Chelsea High School varsity hockey team's run for the state title ended Wednesday as the team fell to Riverview in the quarterfinals. According to AnnArbor.com, Chelsea had the lead with a score of 2-0 after the first period, but Riverview tied it up 2-2 in the second. Riverview won the game 5-3. Chelsea Coach Don Wright told AnnArbor.com that the team is disappointed that it will not be returning to the semifinals for what would have been the third time in four seasons. "Last year, we had our best record ever, we graduated a lot of seniors," Wright said in the article. Chelsea Hockey Wins Regional Final

The team heads to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Chelsea High School's varsity hockey team won the regional title Saturday. The team beat Allen Park 5-4. The Bulldogs now move on to play Riverview in the Division 3 Quarterfinals Wednesday, according to the MHSAA website. The game will be at 7:15 p.m. in Allen Park. If they win, Chelsea will face the winner of Wednesday's Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood vs. Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett game in the semifinals on Friday. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday. Other teams in the running are Houghton, Sault Ste Marie, East Grand Rapids and Flint Powers Catholic. Do you have any photos of the game? Chelsea's Steve Bleise Second at 2013 MHSAA Wrestling Finals

The high school junior was undefeated this season and came in second at the state finals on Saturday.

Though it wasn't the end he was hoping for, Chelsea High School junior Steve Bleise is proud of his accomplishment during the 2012-2013 wrestling season. The CHS wrestler went undefeated, scoring 45 victories in the regular season, but came up short at the Michigan High School Athletic Association's state wrestling finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Saturday. Bleise finished second in the state in the 135-pound weight class in Division 2, losing his match to Logan Massa of St. Johns High School with a pin in 2:45. Earlier in the day, Bleise defeated Holly senior and two-time state champion Anthony Gonzalez in the semi-final round, and Holly senior Mason Cleaver in the quarter finals. “I’m disappointed on how I did, but all the way up …

Two Chelsea High School Bowlers Heading to State Competition Saturday

CHS athletes Jesse Stebelton and Zack Stephenson will compete in Waterford on March 1-2.

The Chelsea boys' varsity bowling team has a lot to brag about this year. The team finished its 2012-2013 season with a 15-2 record, and were this year's Southeastern Conference White Division champions. On Saturday, two members of the boys team, Jesse Stebelton and Zack Stephenson will travel to Waterford to compete in the Division 2 state finals at Century Lanes. Stebelton placed fourth, and Stephenson placed 10th at the regional finals in Taylor on Feb. 23 to qualify for the finals. "I believe our boys are well prepared for Saturday," coach Eddie GreenLeaf said. "They’ve worked hard. In my opinion, all six of our guys would've qualified for the finals based on their commitment. Michigan Golf Show Comes to Novi This Weekend

The golf show will be at Suburban Collection Showplace March 1-3.

A little bit of snow won't stop golfers from kicking off the Michigan golf season this weekend. The Michigan Golf Show will be held at Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi, from Friday through Sunday. Hours are Friday 2-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults. Children 12 and younger get in free. Parking is $5. The show will have more than 400 exhibitors, which will include retail, resort and travel information, and deals on Michigan golf courses. Hands-on activities include a closest to the pin contest, 100 feet of hitting nets, and long drive contests. This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the largest consumer golf show in the nation. Results from the 2013 MPHSH Hockey Showcase at Chelsea's Arctic Coliseum

Sixty teams throughout Michigan competed in the hockey showcase last week in Chelsea.

The third annual Michigan Public High School Hockey (MPHSH) Showcase took place at the Arctic Coliseum Arena in Chelsea last week. The tournament is the largest high school athletic showcase and the largest public high school showcase in the history of high school athletics in the state of Michigan. Sixty teams from Division I, II, and III public high schools from around the state participated in this year's event. Dexter, Chelsea Athletes Among Wrestlers in Washtenaw County to Compete in Regionals

Thirty-three wrestlers from across Washtenaw County will advance to regional competition next week.

Athletes across Washtenaw County will represent their respective schools during the Michigan High School Athletic Association's regional finals next weekend. Thirty-three high school wrestlers placed in the top four of their respective weight classes during district play-offs on Saturday, according to Ann Arbor.com. Among the 33 regional qualifiers were eight champions from Dexter and Chelsea.
