Chelsea's Steve Bleise Second at 2013 MHSAA Wrestling Finals

The high school junior was undefeated this season and came in second at the state finals on Saturday.

Though it wasn't the end he was hoping for, Chelsea High School junior Steve Bleise is proud of his accomplishment during the 2012-2013 wrestling season.

The CHS wrestler went undefeated, scoring 45 victories in the regular season, but came up short at the Michigan High School Athletic Association's state wrestling finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Saturday.

Bleise finished second in the state in the 135-pound weight class in Division 2, losing his match to Logan Massa of St. Johns High School with a pin in 2:45.

Earlier in the day, Bleise defeated Holly senior and two-time state champion Anthony Gonzalez in the semi-final round, and Holly senior Mason Cleaver in the quarter finals.

“I’m disappointed on how I did, but all the way up to the finals I wrestled great,” Bleise told Heritage Newspapers. “I beat a state finalist last year and I beat a two-time state champ (Anthony Gonzales) in the semis, so I was pretty pleased with my performance up until now.”
