Chelsea Hockey Falls to Riverview in Quarterfinals

The Bulldogs lost 5-3.

The Chelsea High School varsity hockey team's run for the state title ended Wednesday as the team fell to Riverview in the quarterfinals.

According to AnnArbor.com, Chelsea had the lead with a score of 2-0 after the first period, but Riverview tied it up 2-2 in the second. Riverview won the game 5-3.

Chelsea Coach Don Wright told AnnArbor.com that the team is disappointed that it will not be returning to the semifinals for what would have been the third time in four seasons.

"Last year, we had our best record ever, we graduated a lot of seniors," Wright said in the article. "This team did a great job to get right back and win the league, to win the region, and to be in position to get to the final four again."

The Bulldogs had won the regional tournament against Allen Park, 5-4.

Riverview now goes on to play Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood in the semifinals Friday. The winner will play the victor of the Sault Ste Marie vs. Flint Powers Catholic in the finals on Saturday.
