Chelsea Residents to Vote on School Millage Renewal in May

The Chelsea School District is asking residents to renew its 18-mill operating millage on May 7.

Residents living in the Chelsea School District will head to the polls on May 7 to renew the district's 18-mill operating millage.

According to the Chelsea Update, the millage expires in 2014, and renewing it will allow the district to continue to levy the statutory rate of 18 mills required of school districts to receive the full per pupil foundation allowance from the State of Michigan.

The Chelsea School Board unanimously approved a resolution to put the millage on the May ballot at its meeting on Monday.
