Chelsea Police Blotter: Items Stolen from Car, Warrant Arrest and More

Warrant arrest

Around 1:41 a.m. Oct. 5, Chelsea Police saw a suspicious vehicle driving in a lot on the 1500 block of South Main Street. A routine license plate check revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had two warrants out of Jackson County, a police report states.

Officers approached the driver as he entered a business and inquired whether he was the owner of the vehicle. The 43-year-old Manchester man stated that he was in fact the owner and provided his identification, police said. He was taken into custody on the warrants and transported to Jackson County Sheriff staff, the report states.

Larceny from auto

Around 7:50 p.m. Oct. 3, Chelsea Police responded to the 14000 block of East Old US 12 on the report of a larceny from a motor vehicle complaint, according to a recent police report.

The victim told police she parked her vehicle in the parking lot around 6:35 p.m. and when she returned at 7:50 p.m. she noticed that her driver’s side window had been smashed out and her briefcase and purse were missing from the vehicle, the report states.

The stolen property included a laptop computer, cell phone, various forms of ID, credit cards, money, and miscellaneous personal items, police said. The case remains open pending further investigation.

Drugs found in vehicle

Around 4:22 p.m. Oct. 3, police responded to the 1100 block of South Main Street on the report of a suspicious vehicle complaint, according to a recent police report.

The complainant reported that there was a male and a female sitting in a white Hyundai that appeared to be sleeping in the vehicle, the report states. Police said the officers located the vehicle and noticed signs of drug use inside the vehicle upon making contact with the occupants.

Police said multiple types of prescription medications and suspected heroin were located along with suspected drug paraphernalia.

The occupants, a 34-year-old Williamston man and a 25-year-old Williamston woman, were arrested and transported to the Chelsea Police Department for processing, the report states.

The case is open pending laboratory analysis by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and warrant authorization by the Washtenaw County Prosecutors Office, according to the police report.
