Chelsea Police Arrest Erratic Driver for Heroin Use

Officers with the Chelsea Police Department arrested a 22-year-old Manchester resident for suspicion of heroin use on Nov. 13.

According to police records, officers on routine patrol stopped the suspect's vehicle near the intersection of S. Main Street and Middle Street around 10 p.m. after observing the vehicle drive down the roadway with a broken taillight and damaged license plate.

While making contact with the driver of the vehicle, officers observed a large brown bag that contained a large number of syringes. After questioning the driver, he stated that he had used heroin within the last eight hours. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of narcotics, and taken to Chelsea Community Hospital for a blood sample.

The case remains open pending laboratory analysis by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.
