Chelsea Business Owner Heading to Trial for Sexual Assault

Michael Radant, co-owner of Ellie's Chocolate Cafe, will stand trial for third-degree criminal misconduct on April 8.

Michael Radant, a Chelsea business owner accused of sexually assaulting a woman, is headed to trial in Washtenaw County circuit court.

According to Ann Arbor.com, Radant will stand trial for two counts of third-degree criminal sexual misconduct on April 8 after his attorneys were unable to reach a plea agreement.

Radant, 37, is accused of sexually forcing himself on a 37-year-old woman at his home in the 700 block of North Main Street in Chelsea last November.

According to Heritage Media, the woman testified that she and Radant drank alcohol and watched television on the night of Nov. 15, 2012. The woman received a telephone call and went into her bedroom to talk. Radant eventually followed her into the bedroom, where the alleged assault occurred on the woman's bed.

Radant remains in the Washtenaw County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
