Obituary: Virgil Leon Clark

Virgil Clark of Chelsea died on Feb. 13, 2013.

Virgil Leon Clark, 78, of Chelsea, died Feb. 13, 2013 at his home. He was born April 24, 1934 in Lyndon Township, the son of Carroll E. and Loretta (Slane) Clark.

Mr. Clark graduated from Chelsea High School with the Class of 1953. He worked at Rockwell International in Chelsea. Later he owned Virgil Clark Construction.

On Nov. 19,1966, Virgil married Gail Lynn Tengman in Grass Lake, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons: Clayton (Jessica) Clark of Gregory, and James (Kristin) Clark of Stockbridge; children from his previous marriage, Phyllis Vasas of Jackson, Richard Clark of Chelsea, Elizabeth Turner of Whitmore Lake, Anthony (Paula) Clark of Chelsea; three brothers: Carroll (Linda) Clark Jr., Myron (Ruby) Clark, and Fred Clark; a brother-in-law, Ray Peebles; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Jean Peebles.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Pastor Jeff Howard officiating. A private burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
