Purple Rose Theatre Offers Winter Acting Classes
Artistic Director Guy Sanville will lead students through audition and acting workshops beginning Jan. 21, 2013.
The Purple Rose Theatre Company will offer two acting classes beginning in January and February 2013.
Experienced acting students seeking to refine their audition skills can enroll in the Advanced Audition Intensive. This five-week course meets on Mondays from 6 to 11 p.m., Jan. 21 through Feb. 18, 2013. Students will focus on audition techniques, including intensive, individualized work on monologues, cold readings, mock-auditions and film and commercial audition techniques.
Each student will leave with three audition-ready contrasting monologues. The class is taught by Artistic Director Guy Sanville and resident artist Michelle Mountain, and costs $400. The class will be held at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park St. in Chelsea.
Actors of all experience levels are encouraged to enroll in the theater's annual Actor Boot Camp. This weekend intensive is one of the theater's most popular classes, focusing on practical techniques and principles to guide actors in their work. The three-day Actor Boot Camp will take place Feb. 15 from 7 to 11 p.m.; Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (lunch provided); and Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The class fee is $250. Artistic Director Guy Sanville and resident artist Michelle Mountain will teach the workshop.
