Chelsea Safe Routes to School Hosts Kick-Off Meeting Oct. 11
Parents and community leaders will outline goals to promote safe walking programs in the City of Chelsea.
The Chelsea Safe Routes to School program will hold a kick-off meeting on Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at South Meadows Elementary School, 335 Pierce St.
The Safe Routes to School program is a nationwide initiative designed to make bicycling and walking to school a safer, more appealing, and healthier alternative for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Chelsea's Safe Routes to School Program will encourage children to embark on a healthier lifestyle by providing increased safety education, enforcement, and infrastructure improvements that will help keep children safer when walking or biking to school.
The purpose of the Oct. 11 meeting is to get input from community members on the current barriers to safe walking and biking in the city.
